Spring is here, and it’s bringing a host of things with it. Warmer weather is only one of them. Or should us Floridians say even warmer weather? Spring is also bringing this desire to spruce things up. It’s the time of year where everything is fresh and new, and I’ll never pass up on the opportunity for a makeover. So, if you’re looking to freshen up your home, here are some easy and fun ways to do it.
This is an iconic Spring tradition, and there really is no substitute for curb appeal. The outside is the first thing you see when you come home from a long day of work, so make it inviting. Walking up to a house with beautiful flowers and eye-catching plants sets the tone and brightens everything up. Click here for a list of what to plant this time of year in Florida.
Change up your decor!
I’m not saying go on a spending spree…the sofa can stay. But go out and buy some brightly colored throw pillows that remind you of Spring. Store your old ones in the closet and come next winter, swap them out again. Find some light airy drapes that let you make the most of what the sunshine state has to offer. Give yourself a couple bucks and go have fun!
Swap your art around.
You probably have things hanging on the wall you don’t even notice anymore just because they’ve been there forever. You don’t even need to buy new pieces to make them feel new again. Just change their location. It’s easy, and the pop of color you’re not used to will catch your eye and make the room feel fresh.
Use a Spring-inspired scent.
It’s not all about looks ya know. Smell counts, too. I love to use scented candles because they’re pretty and make the house smell amazing, but you can opt for plugins, fresh flowers, whatever you feel is best to bring the smell of spring into your home.
Last, but certainly not least…clean!
When you say ‘Spring,’ I say ‘cleaning.’ They really do go hand in hand. Declutter your home. Throw out the junk. Clear the fridge of all the scrap paper stuck to it with magnets. Go through those little piles of mail and magazines stashed on your end tables and get rid of them. You’ll feel better once you do, and it will transform your home.
Happy sprucing and happy Spring!
